When talking about making movies, dealing with rights clearance issues may not sound like the most exciting part. But throughout the entire production workflow, there are a lot of legal questions to respond to:
What do I have to do when my script is based on real events and real people? Do I have to clear the artwork in the background? What do I need to consider when using copyrighted music? Is there an insurance against possible claims?
It is crucial to have at least a basic knowledge about the different rights involved and to follow a structured clearance strategy.
